In a bizarre and fascinating turn of events in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a thief returned stolen idols of the Hindu deities Radha and Krishna to a local temple. Haunted by relentless nightmares and with his family stricken by sudden illnesses, the thief surrendered, leaving a confession letter explaining his ordeal.


The idols, made of ashtadhatu, were stolen from the Gau Ghat Ashram temple on September 23. Locals later spotted a suspicious sack near the temple, containing the idols and the thief’s note.


In the letter, he described terrifying dreams and stated that his family’s health began to decline after the theft. Seeking relief, he returned the idols, referring to them as “amaanat” (valuables) and begged for forgiveness.


The temple priest, Swami Jairam Das Maharaj, identified the idols and promptly resumed the temple rituals. Meanwhile, Nawabganj police have registered a case, and the story of the thief's remorse has captivated the community, sparking discussions on spirituality and karma.
